Hello everyone! Today I used the Blog Planner Sheet that I designed to help me out with this project. I've been wanting to do this Dog Leash Holder for about a year now and finally found some time to get it done. I love this hook that I purchased from IKEA and was inspired by a picture that I had seen with this hook used as a dog leash holder. In total, this project took me about 2 hours including drying time for the paint.
Materials Used
Cardstock of your choice
Scissors
Mod Podge (I used the Matte finish)
Pencil
Paint color(s) of your choice
Paint Brush
Wooden Plaque
IKEA Bastis Hook
Vaseline
Hot Glue Gun
Picture Hardware

Step 1~
First thing I did was flip the wooden plaque over and trace the design that was closest to the surface onto my cardstock. After the design was traced I cut it out with my scissors and adjusted it to where it fit nicely onto the plaque. I was careful to make sure that none of the cardstock was hanging over the edge.
Step 2~
Next I painted to plaque. I used the tan color for my base. Once that was dry I ran my finger around the edges with Vaseline wherever I wanted a distressed look. Your last color can be applied directly after putting the vaseline on. I chose black for this step. After your last paint colored is dry you can take a piece of sand paper and lightly rub over where you put the vaseline. I just used a paper towel, which worked just as well. The paint should chip away easily leaving you the distressed look.
Step 3~
Before I put the cardstock on I added the picture frame hardware on the back.

Step 4~
To put the cardstock on I brushed a generous amount of mod podge on the front of the plaque just where the cardstock is going. I brushed mod podge on the back of the cardstock and then placed it on the plaque. Then cover the front of the cardstock with more mod podge. Let dry for about 30 minutes or so.

Step 5~
Once everything is dry all that is left to do is hot glue your hook onto the plaque. There is a place on the back of the hook where you can place it over a screw so that is another option to attach the hook to the plaque. After that your dog leash holder is ready to be put up!

SIDE NOTE: After I painted the plaque I didn't like how the cardstock looked so I just dabbed the edges with some Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Black Soot.
